Tom Fogarty's work was first published in 1975 in our journal which was a joint publication of the Center for Family Learning and the Georgetown Family Center.
Tom was my friend and a gifted family psychiatrist with revolutionary ideas and methods in treating families. His writings were brought to life through the editing talents of Eileen G. Pendagast. An admirer of Fogarty’s work in its earliest days and a sophisticated therapist in her own right, she was perhaps the perfect person to collaborate with him in bringing his ideas to the published word. Their teamwork in this regard was perhaps one of the best accomplishments of the Center.
